Spaghetti Bolognese

PREP TIME: 10min

COOK TIME: 50min SERVES: 6-8

INGREDIENTS:

  • 500g mince beef

  • 700g passata

  • 400g tin of diced tomatoes

  • 1 cup of water

  • 1 large onion, diced

  • 1 large carrot, diced

  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed

  • 3-5 basil leaves, finely chopped

  • 3 tbsp olive oil

  • 500g spaghetti

  • 50g parmesan cheese, grated

  • 1 tbsp salt

  • 1 tsp ground pepper


METHOD:

  • Step 1: Heat oil in a large non-stick fry pan over low-medium heat.

  • Step 2: Gently fry mince with onion, carrot and garlic, until browned.

  • Step 3: Add passata, diced tomatoes, water, basil, salt and pepper.

  • Step 4: Simmer over a low heat for 30-40 minutes.

  • Step 5: Meanwhile, cook spaghetti until Al dente (see packet instructions) and drain.

  • Step 6: Remove fry-pan from heat. Toss spaghetti through Bolognese sauce and coat well.

  • Step 7: Serve Spaghetti Bolognese in a bowl, with a sprinkle of grated parmesan.
