Christmas Egg In Bread


COOK TIME: 15min SERVES: 4-8


  • 10g chives, chopped

  • 4 eggs

  • 1 tbsp butter, divided

  • ¾  cup milk

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 8 slices of bread


  • Step 1: Beat eggs, milk, chives and salt in a mixing bowl and set mixture aside.

  • Step 2: Use a Christmas cookie cutter to cut a large Christmas shape into the centre of each slice of bread.

  • Step 3: Heat a large nonstick frying pan over low heat and melt ½  tablespoon of butter evenly around the pan.

  • Step 4: Place four slices of bread into the buttered pan, (shape side facing upwards).

  • Step 5: Pour egg mixture into the shape holes of the bread. 

  • (keep half of the egg mixture aside for the remaining four slices).

  • Step 6: Cook each bread slice until egg sets a bit on the bottom (approximately 1 minute) and then flip over with a spatula.

  • Step 7: Cook until egg completely sets and bread is golden brown. 

  • Step 8: Repeat cooking process with remaining slices of bread, butter and egg mixture.  

  • Step 9: Serve.
