Bacon & Cheese Macaroni

  • 500g macaroni pasta

  • 150g bacon, shredded

  • 1 litre water

  • 50g butter

  • 2 cups milk

  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, grated

  • 2 tbsp flour

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • ½ cup Parmesan, finely grated

  • Spray olive oil

  • Salt

  • Pepper


  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 180°C and line a large baking dish with spray oil.

  • Step 2: Place water in a large saucepan.

  • Step 3: Salt the water with 1 teaspoon of salt and bring the salted water to boil.

  • Step 4: Once boiling, add the macaroni and cook until Al dente (See packet instructions).

  • Step 5: In a smaller saucepan, add the butter, flour and milk. Place over low heat and stir until it comes to boil.

  • Step 6: Remove from heat. Mix in the mozzarella, parmesan, minced garlic and shredded bacon. Stir well to form a creamy cheese sauce.

  • Step 7: Season the cheese sauce with salt and pepper.

  • Step 8: Drain the pasta and return back to its saucepan.

  • Step 9: Add the cheese sauce to the pasta. Mix well to coat and pour all ingredients into the baking dish. Cover the dish with foil.

  • Step 10: Bake for 20 minutes covered. Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes uncovered.
